Raw Cacao Protein Power Punch Balls.

Being a Mum I sometimes struggle to find a variety of good healthy snacks for my boy. Of course as parents we have that raw nurturing desire inside of us that urges us to feed our offspring with good food.

Limiting their refined sugar intake is of extreme importance not just for their individual health but also for our sanity. I'm sure we've all been their when our children eat some sugary substance (this is where I get critical on the whole refined sugar issue - refined sugar is not a food to our bodies, it's nutrient density is zero and can only do us harm health wise ) and then they experience a sugar high and plummet low when that sugar rush tumbles and their body is literally in shock from what's just happened! Not only are we the ones who have to pick up the pieces from these rushes but also the children are left hungry.

So monitoring what goes into our youngsters stomachs is of great importance to their immune system and as parents...our balance of mind!

These Raw Cacao Protein Power Punch Balls are REALLY easy to make, messy, but a great way to get children involved and of course they are packed with the best kind of nutrient punch for our bodies to grow, thrive and enjoy. These are not just for children by the way, I mean why do they get to have all the fun by munching on these tasty snacks, lets have the whole family powered up with good nutrient dense food.

What I have found is that after one, or two you get a sense of fullness, your appetite is abated and calm is restored for a good length of time. They have been great to give to my boy after school, you know that time where they realise they are free from study but are slightly lacking in energy as their brains have been so engaged with focussing on their school work.

Healthy + Chocolate = Happy People!

Raw Cacao Protein Power Punch Balls
Ingredients:

6 dates
1 tbsp goji berries
1/2 tsp bee pollen
3 tbsp pumpkin seeds
6 tbsp almonds (skin on)
2 tbsp raw cacao
4 tbsp hemp protein powder
3 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp flaxseed
4 tbsp of filtered water

Method:

1.    In a blender place the pumpkin seeds, almonds and flaxseed. Blend until it resembles rough bread crumbs but not too powder like as leaving a slight crunch will create a great texture. Place in a separate bowl.

2.    In the same blender place the pitted dates and goji berries. Blend until all broken up.

3.    Now place everything except the water into the blender and mix together. Slowly add the water and watch it turn into a sticky brown mess! At this point the raw cacao will be creating a glorious aroma for your nose and watch out you may well start to salivate...

4.    Grab a teaspoon and take out some of the mixture and gather in the palms of your hand into a ball shape. Continue until all the mixture is gone. Place into an airtight container and store in the fridge.

Depending on the size you make them, you can expect to make around 24, for children under 5 I would suggest making smaller versions for them.

Ok, I have to admit that whilst writing this up I had to eat one of these Raw Cacao Protein Power Punch Balls. Well I just had to make sure that these were really good before I shared them with you!

Enjoy x.
